76-86 Sloane Avenue

Helix architecture were appointed by Brompton Cross Estate to prepare a proposal for the refurbishment, and reconfiguration of 6 terrace buildings located on Sloane Avenue, the heart of Chelsea. The area is well known for luxury, high-quality boutiques and its historic terraces. The existing buildings suffer from poorly maintained facades and low retail frontages.

The proposed development consists of creating 6 ground floor retail units and 7 residential units on the upper floors. To liberate the retail frontage, the space was reconfigured by reducing the number of access stairs to the upper floors and doors serving the basement level.

The design aimed to retain the existing character of the area and maintain the individuality of the terraces. This was achieved by introducing new traditionally inspired pilasters with simple and elegant shopfront surrounds

The scheme was successful with planning authorities and planning approval was obtained with no objections. The project was fast tracked onto site, with secured pre-lets.
