50 Berkeley Square

Helix were appointed to refurbish this large Victorian townhouse in Mayfair. The building is famous for its historical significance; known for being London’s oldest and most haunted unaltered building, and the home of the former prime minister George Canning.

Despite its historical significance, the grade II listed building was very much unchanged since 1940 with many of its original historic features, including 1940' wiring still in use. The change of use from commercial to residential was sensitively done to ensure there was no damage to the building, (not a single screw or hole was incorporated into the existing building fabric). Helix maintained a bi-weekly monitoring role to catalogue all works to ensure the sensitive project was completed appropriately.
